Anarkali vs Straight Kurta: Which One Suits You Better?

Anarkali or straight kurta — it is the most common question we get on WhatsApp. Both are beautiful, but they fit very differently. Here is a simple way to decide which one suits your body and your occasion.

How they are different

• Anarkali: fitted through the bust, then flares out into a wide, flowing skirt. Usually long — around 50 inches or more.
• Straight kurta: falls from the shoulders in one straight line, with side slits. Usually 44–46 inches long, worn with a straight pant.

Choose an Anarkali if…

• Your hips are fuller than your bust. Because only the bust area is fitted, the flare gives your hips and tummy plenty of room.
• You want comfort through a long function. Nothing pulls when you sit, bend or dance.

A common mistake

Many women buy an Anarkali one size smaller "so the flare looks better". Please do not. If the bust is tight, the whole Anarkali pulls and the flare sits wrong. Match your bust to the size chart and, if you are between two sizes, take the larger one.
